Labor
disputes are an unfortunate part of business and as a Security Manager one will
have to deal with these issues. In normal circumstances, the employees would be
responsible for handling and resolving conventional threats, that is threats
from outside the company. Labor disputes on the other hand are threats
instigated and driven by people inside the organization. It’s when friend turns
foe that the relationship between employer and employee is balanced on the edge
of a knife. If not resolved satisfactorily and quickly, these disputes will be
detrimental to the company as a whole.

Why is history important to a Security Manager?
History is an important factor to
consider because it gives us a glimpse of how certain ideas, concepts and
entities reacted to changes in their environment. I am of the opinion that history is important
for security because it is a field of customs as well as dramatic change and
history provides us with a mean to study both. Security as a complex system
also needs to be mentioned as it provides clear and concise support for the
importance of history.

explain why employees might steal from a company or organization. The presence
of all three of the factors in the theft triangle will increase the risk of
theft from employees. These factors are motive, desire and opportunity. In the
case of all these factors being present the likeliness of theft from employees
are at its highest.
Reasons for the professionalization of private security in the US
The first
Hallcrest report claimed that in 1977 the expenditure on private security and
public security in the United States reached a point where it was evenly
balanced. However the updated version of the report claimed that spending on
private security would be three times greater by the year 2000.
How does the level of training and regulation for security personnel compare with that of the police?
It is commonly accepted that the training and
regulation of private security officials and personnel have been far below
standard until roughly the early 1990s. They were in fact not adequately
trained to perform the tasks and procedures that were expected of them on a
daily basis. The establishment of regulations and certified training aimed to
close the gap that existed between police and private security personnel. That
being said, there are still differences that exist between the two groups when
one compares the level of training and regulation.
